Yes and no. There is a risk that if it is say, 2nd Class seats, the conductor might allow someone from 3rd Class to upgrade to your seat. Also, if it is 3rd Class seat, someone with a standing ticket might claim your seat and refuse to budge. I have only done it with sleeper trains and only less than an hour further down the line.

As you are not going at least 60% of the journey, you can only book up to 30 days in advance.

Hi Richard
I’m trying to book tickets on 12go for the Bangkok to Hua Hin #43 for January. The site keeps saying “trip not bookable”
Do you know what that’s about?
Thanks, Michael

Hello Richard,
thank you for your explanations. May I ask you this:
You wrote: "For passengers traveling less than 25% of the train route distance: Tickets can be purchased 1 day in advance."
Unfortunately, one of our planned train trips is less than those 25% and it looks like there are not many tickets available, so we dont want to wait until we can book it (only 1 day in advance).

Lets say there is a train that goes from A to B to C (e.g. A: Bangkok -> B: Ayutthaya -> C: Chiang Mai).

Do you know if it possible to book a ticket from station A, but you enter the train not there, but in B (meaning your seat is for some stations empty and you pay more, but at least you are able to book the ticket earlier (30 days in advance), because the distance is then long enough)?

Thank you for your help and tips :)
