Kiha-183 Excursion Train to Phra Nakhon Khiri Fair in Phetchaburi

The State Railway of Thailand are using refurbished Japanese Kiha-183 trains as special excursion trains. With their distinctive elevated cab and a slanted nose, they are proving to be very popular with tourists going on one-day trips around Thailand. This trip is to Phra Nakhon Khiri Fair in Phetchaburi.

This trip is along the Southern Line to Phetchaburi Railway Station where there will be a tour of the city and a chance to the join the annual festival in the evening. The one-day trips are advertised for Saturday 18th March and Sunday 19th March 2023. The cost of the ticket is 699 Baht for the round trip in the air-conditioned train. This includes drinks and snacks and a special tram tour at the destination. The train will leave Bangkok Railway Station (Hua Lamphong) at 8:05 a.m. and will return to Bangkok at 11:10 p.m. Tickets will go on sale from 8:30 a.m. on Saturday 25th February 2023. The following is the itinerary for the excursion to Ratchaburi. Please note this is subject to change.

7:30 a.m. Passengers register on Platforms 4-5 at Bangkok Railway Station (Hua Lamphong).
8:05 a.m. The train will depart from Hua Lamphong.
8:25 a.m. The train will arrive at Bang Sue Junction Station to pick up more passengers.
11:30 a.m. The train will arrive at Phetchaburi Railway Station.
11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Join a special tram tour to visit several communities along the river. View street art and find somewhere to eat. After lunch, visit Wat Yai Suwannaram.
2:30 p.m. Back on the tram to visit more places such as Uruphong Bridge which crosses Phetchaburi River.
2:45 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Visit Wang Ban Pun, a European style palace situated to the south of the town.
5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Free time to explore the annual festival. Plenty of things to see, buy and taste.
7:30 p.m. Everyone returns to the meeting place and walk back to the railway station.
7:50 p.m. Train departs from Phetchaburi Railway Station.
10:26 p.m. Train arrives at Bang Bamru Station.
10:45 p.m. Train arrives at Bang Sue Junction Station.
11:10 p.m. Train arrives back at Bangkok Railway Station (Hua Lamphong).
