Lopburi 2 Station Set to Open 5th December 2025 to Serve Long-Distance Trains

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is officially launching Lopburi 2 Station on December 5, 2025, as part of its Northern Double-Track Railway project between Lopburi and Pak Nam Pho. The new elevated station, located about 12 km south of the original Lopburi Station in Tha Wung District, will serve 14 long-distance trains, including special express, express, and rapid trains running between Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal and destinations in the north.

To ease the transition for passengers, the SRT is offering a free shuttle bus service between the original Lopburi Station and Lopburi 2, running from December 5, 2025 to March 5, 2026.

❓ Why Lopburi 2?

Lopburi 2 is the only elevated station in the Lopburi–Pak Nam Pho double-track project. It was built to reroute trains away from Lopburi’s historic city center, preserving key heritage sites such as Phra Prang Sam Yot and San Phra Kan Shrine. This move helps minimize vibrations and visual impacts on ancient landmarks, while increasing the capacity and safety of the Northern Line.
