HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Sawankhalok branch line was completed in the early 20th century, with Ban Dara Junction designated as the connection to the Northern Line. The branch was built to support both passenger travel and local industries, especially ceramics, which Sawankhalok was historically known for. Although services today are limited to local trains, Sawankhalok Station continues to connect the district with Uttaradit and the wider national railway network, maintaining its role as a community gateway and convenient access point for visitors exploring Sukhothai.
