This is Express No. 86 train from Nakhon Si Thammarat to Bangkok. This is an overnight overnight sleeper that has a mixture of carriages depending on your budget. For example, 2nd and 3rd Class carriages with seats and fans start at 282 Baht and 1st and 2nd Class carriages with beds start at 725 Baht. The train leaves Nakhon Si Thammarat at 4:20 p.m. and arrives at Krung Thep Aphiwat Station at 5.30 a.m. about 13 hours later.

This train has a dining car. However, there are also dinner options when the train stops at Surat Thani at 7:21 p.m. The return train is made by Express No. 85.

TICKET PRICES AND HOW TO BUY THEM

Tickets cost 455 Baht for seats in 2nd Class and 282 Baht for seats in 3rd Class. For the sleeper carriages, 2nd Class with A/C costs 755/825 Baht, and 1st Class with A/C costs 1,265/1,465 Baht or 1,965 Baht for single occupancy. The lower berths are always more expensive as they have windows and are slightly large. Tickets can be bought 30 days in advance from the official D-Ticket website. Some people have reported trouble using their credit cards on the official website and have told me they prefer the agency website such as 12GO which also have a better interface.
