Khao Khachiu Prisoner of War Camp in Phetchaburi

This is an aerial photo taken of Khao Khachiu Prisoner of War Camp in Tha Yang District of Phetchaburi Province. Out of shot in the bottom righthand corner is a Japanese airport. Construction of the airport started on 9th May 1945 to support a possible evacuation of Japanese troops from Burma. The runway can still be made out between the stadium and Nong Buay market. The hill behind the camp is Khao Khachiu. On the left slope you can just make out a white pagoda that is still there today. Non Chok railway station is about 10km away from this location.
