Special Express No. 46: Padang Besar to Bangkok

Special Express No. 46 is an international train that runs between Padang Besar in Malaysia and Bangkok. Immigration for both Malaysia and Thailand are done at this station before you board the train. This leaves Padang Besar at 6:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. Thai time) and arrives in Bangkok at 9:05 a.m. the next morning. The reverse journey is done by Special Express No. 45.

There are only two 2nd Class sleeper carriages. Lower berth is 918 Baht and Upper Berth is 848 Baht. However, one or two 3rd Class carriages with seats are added for the stretch between Padang Besar and Hat Yai Junction. These seats are 50 Baht. At Hat Yai Junction, the train is joined with Special Express No. 38 that has a dining car.
