Rapid No. 133: Bangkok to Vientiane (Khamsavath)
Rapid No. 133 night train from Bangkok to Vientiane (Khamsavath) is an international train that goes to Laos via Nong Khai. This train doesn’t pass Nakhon Ratchasima as it goes along the Bua Yai bypass (Kaeng Khoi Junction to Bua Yai Junction). You can also use this train to go to Udon Thani. The train leaves Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station at 9:25 p.m. and arrives in Nong Khai at 7:55 a.m. If you are continuing to Laos, you have 40 minutes to pass through Thai Immigration. The train then leaves at 8:35 a.m. and arrives at Vientiane (Khamsavath) Station at 9:05 a.m. This is where you go through Laos Immigration. From this station, there is a 30-minute shuttle bus to the city and also to the high speed station.

The train is made up of three different types of carriages. The majority are 3rd Class carriages with seats, fans, and open windows. It costs 281 baht to go all the way into Laos from Bangkok. If you want some air-conditioned comfort, then you have two choices. The best one is the 2nd Class sleeper coach. This costs 784 baht for the upper berth and 874 baht for the lower berth. An alternative is the 2nd Class carriage with reclining seats and air-conditioning. This costs 574 baht. If you want something more comfortable for the stretch to Nong Khai, then consider Special Express No. 25 which is a modern sleeper train. You can then switch to the international train before your cross the border. The return journey is made by No. 134 Rapid train.
