Udon Thani Railway Station

Udon Thani Railway Station is on the Northeastern Line 568 kilometres from Bangkok. The station originally opened on 24th June 1941. There are twelve passenger trains that pass through this station. However, Express No. 77/78 that runs between Bangkok and Nong Khai is not running at the moment. Facilities inside the station are a bit sparse. However, there are many food and hotel options within walking distance. There is no official left luggage office but you can leave your bag with the security guard. There is also a free charging station for your mobile phone.

There are only three trains from Bangkok that stop here every day. These trains depart from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal (KTW). There are two night trains. The first one to arrive is Special Express No. 25 which is a modern CNR sleeper train with 1st Class and 2nd Class Day and Night sleeper carriages. The other night train is Rapid No. 133 that only has 2nd Class and 3rd Class carriages with seats and fans. This train has cargo cars so you can load your bicycle or motorcycle. The third train is Express No. 75 that runs between Bangkok and Nong Khai during the day. This one has 2nd Class carriages with A/C and 3rd Class carriages with fans. DOWN TRAINS

There are only three trains that run between Udon Thani and Bangkok. The first one to arrive is Express No. 76 which is a diesel-rail car that runs during the day. This has 2nd Class carriages with A/C and 3rd Class carriages with fans. This is a good train to enjoy the views along the Bua Yai branch line as it passes along a viaduct over the Pasak Chonlasit reservoir. There are two night trains that go from here to Bangkok. The first one is Rapid No. 134 that only has 2nd Class and 3rd Class carriages with seats and fans.
