How to go from Bangkok to Hua Hin by Train

Hua Hin is a seaside resort city in Thailand, located about 200 kilometers south of Bangkok. It is a popular tourist destination for both Thai and foreign visitors, and is known for its beautiful beaches, laid-back atmosphere, and variety of activities. Hua Hin is a major stop on the Southern Line and so all trains will stop there on the way down and back up.

RECOMMENDED TRAINS

From Bangkok, there are trains that go to Hua Hin from Bangkok (Hua Lamphong), Krung Thep Aphiwat (KTW), and Thon Buri stations. The fastest and most comfortable train to Hua Hin is Special Express No. 43, which leaves Krung Thep Aphiwat (KTW) at 7:30 a.m. and arrives in Hua Hin three hours later. This is a diesel railcar with air-conditioning and reclining seats. You are advised to buy tickets in advance as they sell out quickly on this route.

OTHER TRAINS

If you are not in a rush and want cheaper tickets, then you have three choices. The first one is Ordinary No. 255, which leaves Thon Buri Station at 7:20 a.m. Another train that leaves from this station is Ordinary No. 251, which departs in the afternoon at 1:10 p.m. Another morning train, Ordinary No. 261, leaves from Bangkok Station (Hua Lamphong) at 9:20 a.m. Tickets for the Ordinary trains can only be bought on the day and only at the station.

The remaining trains are the night trains out of Krung Thep Aphiwat Station. All of them, apart from Special Express No. 31, have 3rd Class carriages. But still, they will be more expensive than the Ordinary trains. Please also note, with long distance trains, you cannot book your tickets in advance to go to Hua Hin as your journey must be at least 25% of the complete route. So, you will have to chance it on the day or just go for a local train.
