Train Trip to Chiang Mai, Lamphun and Lampang from 20-23 January 2023

Lanna Modernization Railroad Travel together with the State Railway of Thailand have organised a special travel package on the historic railway line from 20-23 January 2023. The route will be Bangkok-Chiang Mai-Lamphun-Lampang-Bangkok. The price is 6,990 baht and only 38 seats are available.

The No. 9 Special Express sleeper train leaves Bangkok at 6:10pm on 20th January and arrives in Chiang Mai at 7:15 a.m. the next morning. Passengers will then change to an air-conditioned bus to visit three amazing temples in Chiang Mai Province in the morning: Wat Banden, Wat Pa Dara Phirom, and Wat Phra That Doi Kham. After lunch, the bus will take you to Lamphun Province where you will visit Wat Phrathat Haripunchai, where holy relics of The Lord Buddha are housed in the gigantic golden pagoda. The bus will then take you to Lampang Province to check in at your hotel. You then have free time to visit Kad Kongta Night Market and eat as you walk and shop.

The second full day starts before dawn with a trip to Wat Doi Prachan Mae Tha where from the top of the hill you will be able to witness a beautiful sunrise. After breakfast and a shower back at the hotel, the bus will take you to visit Wat Sri Rong Muang which has beautiful golden wood carvings. Next is an opportunity to have a pony and cart ride around Lampang city. Next up is a visit to Wat Srichum which is a Burmese style temple made with golden teak. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will visit Wat Chai Mongkol which is another Burmese style temple.

Next up is a chance to buy ceramic products which is what Lampang is famous for. The final stop is at Wat Phra That Lampang Luang which is the most famous and revered temple in  Lampang. Before dinner, everyone will have an opportunity to shower and change their clothes at a nearby university. After dinner at a restaurant, you will be taken to the railway station in Lampang where you will catch No. 10 Special Express sleeper train at 8:17 p.m. This will bring you back to Bangkok where you will arrive on the morning of 23rd January at 6:50 a.m.

The cost of the trip, including food where mentioned, two nights on the sleeper train and one night in a hotel is 6,990 Baht per person.
