Air-conditioned carriages added to commuter train service on Eastern Line from 1st September

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will add air-conditioned cars to its commuter train service on the Eastern Line from September 1, 2023. The move is part of the SRT’s efforts to promote the use of public transportation and reduce fuel consumption and environmental impact.

The two new air-conditioned cars will be added to train number 371/372, which runs between Bangkok and Prachinburi. The cars will provide additional seating for passengers and commuters who use the train for daily round-trip journeys. Reservations will be available through the D-ticket system on the day of travel. The special fare starts at 20 baht.

The SRT’s decision to add air-conditioned cars to the Eastern Line follows the success of a similar initiative on the Bangkok-Chachoengsao route, which was launched in May 2023. The addition of air-conditioned cars has led to a significant increase in passenger numbers on these routes.

The SRT expects that the addition of air-conditioned cars to the Eastern Line will make it more convenient for passengers, reduce crowding, and provide more options for travel. The SRT plans to add more air-conditioned cars to commuter trains on other lines in the future.

Passengers who are interested in traveling on the new air-conditioned train service can contact the SRT Call Center at 1690 24 hours a day or visit the SRT PR Facebook page for more information.

The State Railway of Thailand will add air-conditioned carriages to commuter trains No. 371/372 Bangkok – Prachinburi – Bangkok. Fares start at 20 baht, starting from 1st September 2023 onwards.
