Rapid No. 134: Vientiane (Khamsavath) to Bangkok
Rapid No. 134 is a night train that goes from Vientiane (Khamsavath) to Bangkok via Nong Khai. You pass through Laos immigration at Vientiane (Khamsavath) station and Thai immigration at Nong Khai Station. You also go through customs here and so you need to take all of your bags off the train with you. This train doesn’t go to Nakhon Ratchasima as it goes via the Bua Yai bypass (Bua Yai Junction to Kaeng Khoi Junction). The train stops at Udon Thani Railway Station at 8:57 p.m. If you want something more comfortable for the stretch from Nong Khai to Bangkok, then consider Special Express No. 26 which is a modern sleeper train. Just catch No. 134 to Nong Khai and then transfer to No. 26. Tell the conductor and he will send you to the front of the immigration queue. The outbound journey is made by No. 133 Rapid train.

The train is made up of three different types of carriages. The majority are 3rd Class carriages with seats, fans, and open windows. It costs 281 baht to go all the way into Laos from Bangkok. If you want some air-conditioned comfort, then you have two choices. The best one is the 2nd Class sleeper coach. This costs 784 baht for the upper berth and 874 baht for the lower berth. An alternative is the 2nd Class carriage with reclining seats and air-conditioning. This costs 574 baht.
