Railway Safety Posters
These are posters warning of potential hazards on the railway. They were used for public relation relations at various stations to alert passengers and the general public during the years 1965 – 1968. You can see the complete set in the Railway Museum at Bangkok Railway Station.
ข้ามทางเมือมีรถบังระวังรถสวน
Be careful crossing the tracks if a parked train is blocking your view
อย่าโดยสารบนหลังคารถ
Do not ride on the roof of the train
อย่ายืนที่บันไดรถ จะปะทะสะพาน
Don’t stand on the steps, you will be hit by a bridge
อย่ายืนชิดขอบชาน จะถูกรถชน
Don’t stand close to the edge of the platform or you’ll be hit by a train
ก่อนเดินข้ามสะพานรถไฟดูรถให้ดี
Before crossing a train bridge look out carefully for trains
อย่าขึ้นลงขณะรถกำลังเคลื่อน
Do not get on or off while the train is moving
อย่านอนบนทางรถไฟ
Do not lie down on the tracks
อย่าเดินผ่านช่องต่อรถจะถูกรถบีบ
Don’t walk between carriages
เมื่อข้ามรางดูให้แน่ว่าไม่มีรถไฟมา
Look out for trains when crossing tracks
เดินในย่านสถานีระวังประแจหนีบ
Be careful of the switch rail
นั่งรถอย่าชะโงกหน้าต่าง
Don’t lean out of the window
อย่าขว้างปาขบวนรถ
Don’t throw stones at the trains
อย่าทำลายอุปกรณ์สื่อสาร
Do not destroy communication equipment
อย่านำสัตว์ไปเลี้ยงบนทางรถไฟ
Do not bring animals to tend on the tracks
อย่าเดินชิดทางรถไฟ
Do not walk close to the train tracks
อย่าขีดเขียนข้างรถ
Do not write on the side of carriages
อย่าข้ามทางรถไฟก่อนหยุดดูซ้าย ขวา
Do not cross the train tracks before stopping to look both ways first
Don’t eat dogs near trains, or anywhere else for that matter.

If it’s in Thailand, why do most of the faces in the posters look anglo?
The poster (about halfway down):
“Don’t stand close to the edge of the platform or you’ll be hit by a train”
OMITS – “If people are behind you, you ARE in danger of being bumped off into the train’s path or into the moving train itself.”
I have been remembering old Jackie Chan films where background habits on period trains in Malaysia, China and countries like Bangladesh, India, and others are accurately portrayed.
Are these available in high resolution anywhere?
I have only seen displays at some railway stations.
Oh my word, these are fabulous! I want to buy a set of them.
