Pha Sadet Overhanging Rock

Pha Sadet Pak, or commonly known as Pha Sadet, is a historical site on the Northeastern Line of the Thai railway system. King Rama V and Queen Sripatcharindara Boromindra (Princess Saovabha Phongsri) visited the village when the Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima railway line was being built. Pha Sadet Pak is located between Map Kabao and Pha Sadet stations on the Northeastern Line, in the Dong Phayayen mountains.

The following historical events occurred here. On December 22, 1896 (B.E. 115), the King and Queen embarked on a royal tour along the Pa Sak River and disembarked to continue their journey by train. They arrived at the end of the railway line at the time (Ban Hinlap) at 3:00 p.m. The King and Queen disembarked from the train and continued on foot along the unlaid track across two streams.

They reached the large rock at this cliff at 5:00 p.m.  The King ordered the royal initials “J.P.R.” to be inscribed on the rock, which represented his own initials, “S.P.” for the Queen’s name, and the number “115” for the year of their visit. The King also bestowed the name “Pha Sadet Pak” on the rock.

Today, Pha Sadet Pak is a historical tourist destination in Saraburi Province. It is easily accessible by train or car. It is not far from Pha Sadet Railway Station.
