Thailand’s “High Speed Trains can go 160 km/hour

Thailand doesn’t have a high speed train yet but the Red Line electric trains in Greater Bangkok have been clocked going as fast as 160 kilometres per hour by commuters. You won’t see this too often as it has to keep slowing down for stations. But it is possible during the stretch of track between Don Mueang and Lak Hok stations. Having said that, the official maximum speed for the Red Line is 145 km/hour. In comparison, the high speed trains in Laos go 160 km/hour and the electric trains in Malaysia go 150 km/hour.
