Thai Railway Police Resume Patrols on 30 Long Distance Trains

Thailand’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has launched a new initiative aimed at ensuring passenger safety on the country’s railways. The Center of Crime Prevention and Suppression on Railways (CCPSR) will actively patrol and monitor 30 daily trains to deter and respond to criminal activity.

The CCPSR’s establishment comes in response to a request from the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to assist with security on passenger trains. The risk of crime during train travel motivated this collaborative effort for increased protection.

The CCPSR’s initial focus will be on routes known to have a higher risk of crime, including the Northern Line (Bangkok-Chiang Mai), the Northeastern Line (Bangkok-Nong Khai), and the Southern Line (Bangkok-Hat Yai).

In addition to physical patrols, the CCPSR will leverage technology alongside close cooperation with the SRT and other agencies. Data sharing and analysis will be employed to track trends in train-related crime and to aid in apprehending wanted individuals.

Passengers are urged to report any suspicious or criminal activity witnessed on trains directly to the CCSPR Facebook page or by calling the hotline at 1599.
